Rolex Submariner 124060 vs. 126610LN: Date or No-Date?

Rolex Submariner No-Date 124060 black dial watch

If you've decided on a modern Rolex Submariner, the next question is usually the hardest one: date or no-date? The Submariner Ref. 124060 and the Submariner Date Ref. 126610LN look almost identical at a glance, and both are excellent watches. Here's how they compare, so you can decide which one fits you.

What they have in common

Both watches were introduced in 2020, replacing the previous-generation Ref. 114060 and Ref. 116610LN. Both share the same core recipe:

  • 41mm Oystersteel case
  • Black dial with a black Cerachrom ceramic bezel
  • Water resistance to 300 meters
  • Rolex's 3200-series automatic movement, with about 70 hours of power reserve
  • Oyster bracelet with the Glidelock extension system for on-the-fly sizing

In other words, you're not giving up quality, durability, or everyday wearability with either one.

The real difference: the date

The 126610LN adds a date window at 3 o'clock with Rolex's Cyclops magnifier over it, and runs the date-equipped Calibre 3235. The 124060 skips the date and uses Calibre 3230.

The Submariner Date Ref. 126610LN.

That one change shapes the whole look:

  • 124060 (no-date): a clean, symmetrical dial that traces straight back to the original tool-watch Submariner. Many collectors consider it the purist's choice.
  • 126610LN (date): the more practical everyday watch, and the version most people picture when they hear "Submariner."

Price and value

The no-date 124060 has historically carried a lower retail price than the 126610LN. On the pre-owned market, prices for both move with demand, condition, and whether the watch comes as a complete set with box and papers. Always compare watches of the same year and completeness when weighing prices.

Which one should you choose?

Choose the 124060 if you love clean, symmetrical design, or want the most classic expression of the Submariner. Choose the 126610LN if you'll actually use the date, or want the most versatile everyday version. Honestly, the best test is to try both on. The Cyclops is something people tend to either love or not notice at all once it's on the wrist.
